He just keeps getting better!
Wow. I'm sooo pleased with this album. Sean seems to improve with each album as he ages and refines his craft. I first noticed a good song or two on his early albums that seemed well written, earnest, and sexy. Then came some monster hits that became part of the soundtrack of my life. This album is, in my opinion, the closest to a complete album that he's produced so far. Barely a weak track in the bunch. Previous albums would have inexplicably strong tracks mixed in with some obvious filler. Not much filler to speak of. Even the songs on this album that I don't connect with, I can still recognize the strength in the song craft. This album is layered with smooth vocals and brilliant lyrics. His voice is like aged whiskey. Textured and burning, but smooth all the same. My favorite songs on this album, like all his albums, are his sultry/sexy songs and the songs that have a vaguely swampy feel. I'm less able to connect with the family themed songs, but they're still a master musician at the top of his game. I'm shocked that this guy isn't a household name! Tracks 3 and 8 are my favorite

Music to my ears
By kala sue 77
I join the list of listeners who "discovered" Sean from a Subaru commercial…it has been love ever since! I don't know where this voice has been all my life. The soulful, melodic tunes remind me of Nina Simone, if Sean were an African American soul singer from the 1950's. The music is powerful, aching, and optimistic all at the same time…I don't know how he does it…it's wonderful beautiful! Oh, and if you haven't seen him in concert, do so immediately, you won't regret it. He is even better in person.
So much soul
By Vanessa Morrison
So happy when I heard Sean's new album - back to the dance grooves - laying on that soul heavy but always subtle in that beautiful way only Sean Hayes can do. Thanks to this album, I have taken to solo dance parties again. Love it.
Like some people, I stumbled upon Sean Hayes while listening to his "Powerful Stuff" in a Subaru commercial and it was love at first listen. Since that very short time, I have added every Sean Hayes CD I could get my hands on into my music library. He is my music therapy. His music, lyrics, composition, delivery and voice are captivating and digs deep down into your soul. I was nervous about "Before We Turn To Dust" because I couldn't imagine that he would be able to stand up against the pedestal that I placed him on. I'm deliriously happy that my nervousness was for naught. This album is everything that embodies Sean Hayes and I'm once again captivated. Do not hesitate; this is therapy we all need.
Sean Hayes does it again
with another gorgeous album. He takes it back to those folk/blues roots (less of the rock influence from Run Wolves Run). Lots of great tracks on here, including my favorites: Drop Down, Lucky Man, and Innocent Spring. Great singer-songwriter with a passion. You should definitely support his work and buy this album!
Excellence through and through
Another fantastic album from a truly unique artist. If you already love Sean's music then this album is a no-brainer and is as good as anything he's ever done. And if you're just discovering Sean then this album is as good a place as any to dive right in. As a former San Francisco native I've seen him live at least 10 times and can't recommend the live shows enough as well. In short, buy this album and if Sean is playing anywhere near your' town, go see him live.
Best Album Yet!

If you don't yet know who Sean Hayes is, but this album! Sean has one of the best voices out there. He also happens to be a killer song writer too.
I have all of his albums, but would highly recommend this album to anyone who's looking to get to know Sean's music. It's awesome from start to finish.

And all of his others if you haven't already. This man is no joke.
Another fantastic album from Mr. Hayes. Just really solid heartfelt and intelligient music. Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed. And also check out Run Wolves Run his previous album, which is in my top ten favorite albums of all time. Awesome.
